Beverly Hills Cop 5: Detroit Connection (2026)

The Return of the 90210 Legend

The air is expensive, the cars are faster, and the laugh is unmistakable. Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is officially back in the zip code that made him a legend, but the palm trees of Beverly Hills are merely the starting line for his most dangerous case to date. In Beverly Hills Cop 5: Global Heat, the classic Detroit-style detective work collides with a sophisticated, multi-continental conspiracy that stretches from the diamond-studded boutiques of Rodeo Drive to the shadowy, high-tech black markets of Europe.

Old School Instincts vs. High-Tech Crimes

Eddie Murphy returns to his most iconic role with his signature razor-sharp wit and a grin that says he’s already three steps ahead of the bad guys. While the world has moved on to AI-driven surveillance and digital footprints, Axel remains the master of the “improvised hustle,” proving that a well-placed banana in a tailpipe—or a perfectly timed lie—is still more effective than any algorithm.

Joining him in the line of fire is Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). No longer the rookie following the rules, Bobby has become a tech-savvy powerhouse who has finally learned to stop fighting Axel’s chaotic methods and start weaponizing them. Their chemistry is fueled by a new dynamic: Bobby handles the drones, while Axel handles the distractions.

A Family Affair and a Global Wildcard

The heart of the film remains centered on Axel’s daughter, Jane Saunders (Taylour Paige). Now a top-tier defense attorney in Beverly Hills, Jane finds herself in a legal minefield when her father’s investigation threatens the city’s elite. She’s the only one who can keep Axel out of a jail cell while he’s tearing up the rulebook, providing a brilliant blend of emotional weight and sharp legal maneuvering to the high-speed action.

Adding fuel to the fire is the introduction of a high-strung, over-prepared Interpol agent played by Kevin Hart. Forced into an uneasy partnership with Axel during a raid in London, Hart’s character is the perfect comedic foil—a man who lives by the handbook trapped in a car with a man who hasn’t read one in forty years. Their back-and-forth banter is a relentless barrage of insults and ego-clashes that keeps the energy at a fever pitch.

Sleek Action and Vintage Vibes

Global Heat is a visual and auditory feast, blending 80s nostalgia with 2026 cinematic intensity:

  • The Chase: A centerpiece sequence features Axel commandeering a one-of-a-kind, stolen luxury Ferrari for a high-speed pursuit through the narrow, winding streets of the French Riviera.
  • The Stakes: The climax takes place at an exclusive international summit where the world’s most powerful figures are gathered, and only Axel can spot the “Detroit-style” hole in their security.
  • The Sound: A reimagined, bass-heavy “Axel F” theme drives the soundtrack, accompanied by neon-drenched cinematography that captures both the glamour of BH and the grit of the global underground.

Axel Foley is living proof that you can take the cop out of Detroit, but you can’t take the chaos out of the cop. In Global Heat, the world is about to learn that when the heat gets too high, Axel Foley is the only one who knows how to stay cool.
