“Skyscraper” (2018) is an action-packed thriller that follows Will Sawyer, a former FBI agent and war veteran who now works as a security consultant for skyscrapers and high-tech buildings. After an accident that left him with a prosthetic leg, Will is determined to build a quiet life with his wife Sarah and their two children. His latest job takes him to Hong Kong, where he is hired to assess the safety of the Pearl, the tallest and most advanced skyscraper in the world. Rising high above the city, the Pearl is more than just a building—it is a symbol of modern engineering, filled with luxury apartments, advanced security systems, and groundbreaking design.
Will is given full access to the Pearl, and at first, everything seems secure. However, during his inspection, a group of international criminals sets their sights on the tower. Their leader, Kores Botha, is after a valuable piece of information hidden inside the skyscraper by its wealthy owner, Zhao Long Ji. To achieve their goal, the criminals start a massive fire inside the building, trapping hundreds of residents and putting Will’s family, who lives on one of the upper floors, in grave danger.

When Will is framed for the disaster, the situation becomes even more complicated. The authorities believe he is responsible, forcing him to clear his name while also trying to save his family from the inferno. With the building engulfed in flames and security systems compromised, Will is pushed to the limits of his strength and ingenuity. His prosthetic leg, once seen as a weakness, becomes a tool for survival, symbolizing his resilience and determination.
The film intensifies as Will uses daring methods to climb the skyscraper from the outside, including a heart-stopping leap from a crane into the burning tower. Inside, Sarah shows courage and resourcefulness, fighting to keep their children safe while navigating collapsing floors and spreading fire. Together, they refuse to surrender to fear, becoming active participants in their own survival rather than passive victims.

As the villains close in, Will confronts Botha in a tense showdown high above the city. With flames raging around them, Will uses his knowledge of the building’s systems and his unyielding drive to protect his family to outsmart the criminals. In the end, he rescues Zhao and secures the vital information, proving his innocence to the authorities.
“Skyscraper” is not just a story about survival but also about love, perseverance, and the strength of family bonds in the face of impossible odds. Combining explosive action sequences with emotional depth, the film highlights Will’s journey from a man haunted by his past to a hero who defies the limits of fear and gravity to protect those he loves most.
